The When I Grow Up Clubhouse

The When I Grow Up Clubhouse (boys allowed)

Have you ever felt stuck and overwhelmed, gone to get advice as to what to do next in your life or career, and…

…it wasn’t the right advice (But the last thing I’d wanna be is a lawyer! Blech!)

…the person who gave it to you had no clue how to relate to a creative person like you? (“I can make a full-time living as a designer, Ma – I know people that can prove it!”)

…it wasn’t aligned with your values and priorities in any way, shape, or form? (I could care less about having stock options!)

…it made things worse? (Well, that was a conversation that’ll haunt my nightmares for years to come. I’ll never ask for help again!)

…you were told to get a nose job?

OK, maybe that last one just happened to me.

Click the video below to hear how a career counselor with an advanced graduate degree (who cost $250/session!) made me feel hopeless, misunderstood, and like a horrible daughter:

A lack of understanding from The World At Large and feelings of overwhelm, confusion and is-there-something-wrong-with-me-ness among creative types during their career transitions are exactly why The When I Grow Up Coach Clubhouse was created.

The Clubhouse is a beautiful safe place that has challenged me to become the person I have always wanted to become: my own boss. All the while reassuring me and given me the resources to help me become my own boss lady! My favorite part about the clubhouse is the knowledge that I am not alone and the ability to shout (type) my frustrations and get feedback, comfort and some I feel ya’s out of it. It’s a great time to be a self-starter and an even better time to meet other self-starters!! Besides being a part of a Clubhouse makes me cooler, everyone knows that.”

Everyone in the Clubhouse has access to:

  • A private Facebook group with other Clubhouse members. Not only will there be an amazeballstasticcommunity there, where you can share your wins/ challenges/ resources/ questions with other creative career changers, but everything you receive with your membership will be housed there. It’s all in the place you know you’re going to two dozen times a day anyway. And I, of course, will be there, too!
  • 10% off on everything I offer outside the Clubhouse. Whatever you buy through my website is part of the 10% refund you’ll receive from being a Clubhouse member, whether it’s private coaching, Operations, workbooks, gift certificates, or whatever else I dream up. (Please note that already-discounted products/services and those that I’m part of but live on another website, like The Declaration of You and Golden Ticket, are excluded)
  • 75 minute live monthly coaching call that you can access from wherever you are (I have Clubhouse members in Israel, after all!). We’ll decide on an urgent, pressing topic as a group and will be able to work around individual goals & challenges. I’ve found that, collectively, the Clubhouse knows everything, and that’ll be utilized in a big way. Can’t attend the call live? You can still listen via an MP3 recording that’ll be posted in our Facebook group (forever) within 24 hours post-call. Win-win.
  • Access to Word versions of all the exercises I’ve ever created (& ever will!). Currently, there are 32 of ‘em, impeccably organized and accessible 24/7 via Facebook, so it’s easy to find your challenge (i.e. not-knowing-what-you-wanna-be-when-you-grow-up; needing-to-learn-how-to-not-procrastinate-anymore-goshdarnit) quickly and work through that exercise to come up with your answer within the hour.
  • Only-for-the-Clubhouse content from people with loads of expertise in the creative career realm. Each month, I’ll be asking one of my superamazeballs creative career cohorts to host a live call and/or come in to our Facebook group for a Q&A and/or offer workbooks…honestly, it’ll be up to them how they wanna connect with ya, but connect they will. You’ll get actionable and inspirational info from a different top-notch expert (i.e. copywriter, designer, marketer, coach, speaker, writer and more (need I go on?)) each and every month. Here they be:

I was overwhelmed with the to-do’s, the what-next’s, the what-do-I-bring-to-the-party questions, and the oh-so-many techie and juggling details of building a creative biz (while still working a full-time gig) that my head was spinning. I’d been following Michelle on Twitter for a while – I liked her vibe, and the ideas and insights she shared about her clients, and her own solopreneur journey. I knew I needed support and structure, so when she opened the Clubhouse doors, I signed on.

Well, yowza – it’s been one of the BEST investments I’ve made in my growing biz.

Michelle’s worksheets, resources and know-how have helped turn down the swirling in my brain, and the community she attracts is inspiring, insightful, supportive, hard-working, playful, generous and all-round awesome. I’m gaining clarity and confidence in my work, and getting support that’s helping me get it done. Clubhouse peeps have become allies, friends, and cheerleaders; we help and encourage each other, we cheer each other on, and we grow like crazy. Michelle holds the space that makes it ultra supportive, generous and delicious.”

The Clubhouse rocks. There’s nothing like a group of excited, energized, forward-thinking, creative-minded, expansive people sharing their passions with each other. The motivation and synergy that comes out of it is just… well, amazeballs.”

Wondering what exactly Clubhousers have achieved by using the included Excellent Exercises, support, and coaching?

  • They have written and launched everything from ebooks, websites, ecourses, and newsletter lists to Twitter & Facebook accounts, Etsy shops, and Facebook groups. Whew – that’s a whole lotta launching!
  • Gotten supportive, helpful, and near-instantaneous feedback on their websites, elevator pitches, blog posts – you name it, The Clubhouse has chimed in with their ideas, thoughts, kudos, and resources!
  • They’ve broken down huge projects to prevent head explosions (and moved towards their big goals once and for all).
  • Upped their productivity by organizing their home office spaces, filtering through email overwhelm, and finally sticking to weekly accountability calls with each other.
  • Made their first sales!
  • Shared their accomplishments sans shame, and have found a “safe place” to share thoughts and fears.
  • Had incredible moments of “tearful happiness” because they have moved away from the jobs that pay the bills, and on towards their passionate moneymakers.
  • They’ve finally found a creative community that empowers them with the support and coaching to start taking action and living the life they’ve always dreamed of.

Every time I have a question, a concern, a late-night fear freakout, a desire for some you go girl energy, or just a place to brag: I go to the Clubhouse. It’s full of other smart, interesting, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs-to-be. Between the whole group, it seems like all the knowledge in the world is available there! From legal, to financial, to web-savviness, to artistic, to managing self-care in an entrepreneurial world gone mad!

But I no longer feel alone in my day-to-day, tangible, career-building world. I have a place to go when I want to talk shop, get kudos, complain, or learn more. I’ve been able to support other people doing things in areas far outside my expertise, because they wonder about things I know, or need exactly the type of support I feel comfortable and happy to give.

It’s a good place to be, this Clubhouse.”

I can not imagine a day without the Clubhouse support! Michelle’s help is invaluable and the sense of community is unparalleled. The Excellent Exercises alone are worth the price, so if you think that you also get monthly calls and daily discussions, joining is really a no-brainer.”

In summation (I love saying that – I feel so lawyerly!), you’ll know that The When I Grow Up Clubhouse is right for you if you’re craving:

  • a pressure-free, creative community where you can get the help you need when you need it, banishing overwhelm, stuckness, and wheel turning so you can get moving towards those amazing goals of yours now!
  • juicy, helpful, on-point, no-time-to-waste exercises that help ya with the exact challenge/goal ya have when ya have it
  • clarity (as to what ya wanna do, how to get there, and other not-so-small stuff)
  • personal coaching with a creative career coach who’s logged over 750 hours helping creative types devise the career they think they can’t have – or discovering it to begin with! – but ya don’t have $197+/month to spend.
  • on-target, accessible info from a different creative career expert each month on specific topics like client communication, social media, becoming a full-time artist, how to handle rejection, launching your stuff without feeling like a slime-o, and using your multiple passions as an asset

Right now, the members of The When I Grow Up Clubhouse converse with each other through our private Facebook group dozens of times a day. It’s an encouraging, supportive, intimate group with everyone getting to know each other’s goals, challenges, wins & struggles personally.

Working with Michelle this year has helped me step into my business in a BIG way. After joining the Clubhouse, I created coaching programs, branding services and eBooks that I never would have had the confidence to undertake on my own. It feels empowering to FINALLY have allies on the path!”

I am learning so much from all of the amazing and inspiring Clubhouse members in such a short amount of time, and I am loving it. I love to learn so this is perfect for me. The Clubhouse always offers such feedback and support. This has been an awesome, exhilarating, exhausting, fearful experience and it is just the beginning. Michelle is an inspiration to us all by motivating us, cheering us on and challenging our misguided views. She helps us with those paradigm shifts in our thinking that are so necessary. The support I have received from The When I Grow Up Clubhouse has been emotionally invigorating, and the website that’s been in the works for 2 years is finally coming out. Pretty sure this has been the best investment in ME! YAY!!.”

Are ya really ready to join The When I Grow Up Clubhouse, where boys are totally allowed, nobody’s gonna give anyone cooties, and I won’t ask you to play M*A*S*H (if you don’t know what that is, please pretend you do so I don’t feel old)?

The When I Grow Up Clubhouse is currently closed, but add your information below to be the first to know when memberships are ready to go!

Have questions? Well I have answers, and they’re below!

As a member of the Clubhouse, you are the one that discovers how to live your vision of a passionate, successful, healthy, vivacious life and commits to your goal at your own pace. To get the most out of this self-paced club, I’d suggest that you schedule a standing weekly appointment (or two) to tackle an exercise (or two), start and/or contribute to a conversation in the private Facebook group, and participate in the monthly group call. Like Yoda says, “Do or do not – there is no try.” Make sure you don’t waste the time/money you invest here by setting yourself up with a structure that’ll allow you time in the Clubhouse as often as you’d like (and if you’re unsure how to do that, I got an Excellent Exercise at the ready for ya!).

Your When I Grow Up Coach Clubhouse membership is good for an entire calendar year, so if you’ve paid on, say, September 14th 2012, you have full access to the Clubhouse and all its goodies until September 13th 2013. A week before your membership expires, you’ll be sent a new invoice via PayPal to the email address you originally used. Payment is due by your expiration date.

If the Clubhouse ain’t what ya expected, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your purchase date by emailing michelle@whenigrowupcoach.com. After those 14 days, there are no refunds or cancellations.

You can, but it would be to your detriment. I use the Facebook group exclusively to set-up events and reminders and such about our live calls, workshops, etc. You’d also miss out on the Community aspect that is mind-blowing awesometastic. You can, however, still get the links to the Excellent Exercises, so if that’s your main reason for being here, you’re in the clear (there’s nothing to fear!).

While I would never ever ever discourage you from joining – a large bulk of the exercises are specifically aimed towards the trying-to-figure-out-what-I-wanna-be-when-I-grow-up group, you’ll find that the most active members are those who’ve already figured it out, and are looking to launch/build it. As long as you’d find that energy and discussion strengthening instead of draining, then I’d absolutely encourage you to join. If you know you might get a case of the blahs being one of the only seekers in a space full of those who’ve already found what they were looking for, I’d say to work through Operation: Creative Career Cheer! and then sit tight: I’m creating an online course just for you that’ll launch in the next few months.

Not to worry! I promise to switch up the dates/times to accommodate lots of time zones, but if ya can’t make it live, you can still listen via an MP3 recording that’ll live in our Facebook group, so you can have 24/7 access. You’ll also have access to listen to the calls that have already taken place, so there’s plenty of coaching goodness to be accessed. Win-win.

While there are just over 100 Clubhouse members, I’d say somewhere around 30-40% of them are super active at any given time….the others are more lurkers and/or just jump in when they have something specific to share. But I won’t lie – this is an active group, with probably about 10 new updates going up every day. But what’s amazeballs about the Clubhouse (which I haven’t experienced in any other FB groups I’m a part of, and like you, I’m in a super lot of ‘em), this is not promotional posts for promotional posts sake. This is a place where people ask for feedback, share their wins, ask for knowledge, use each other as guinea pigs for their services/products, celebrate together, discuss common fears and challenges, etc – it’s a mastermind/support group to the max. Obviously, how much/little you wanna participate is up to you, and is one of the reasons I changed membership from a monthly one to a yearly one. For $12.25/month, you can (hopefully) afford to jump in and out as suits your needs/schedule – and I never want a head explosion on my watch, so I encourage that. And don’t forget that this isn’t “just” a Facebook group – there’s a group coaching call once a month,  over 30 exercises to suit your every need, and materials given each and every month from a coach/consultant/artist with wisdom to share.

So sorry I didn’t introduce myself ’til now! I’m Michelle Ward, CPC, PCC and – most importantly! – The When I Grow Up Coach. I’ve coached hundred of creative people discover (and achieve!) the passionate career they think they can’t have, and I won’t rest until all creative types can see the possibility in making a grown-up living doing what they love. A Professional Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation, a musical theater actress with my BFA from NYU/Tisch, and a Corporate America escapee, I’ve served as an expert source and contributor for Newsweek, Forbes, Psychology Today, Yahoo! and AOL Jobs as well as speaking at SXSW, The World Domination Summit and Etsy Success Symposium. My first book, The Declaration of You (co-written with the artist Jessica Swift & encouraging everyone to clarify their purpose and own their uniquity) will be published by North Light Craft Books in June 2013. I created the Clubhouse in January 2012, and am super proud at what a supportive, helpful space it’s become for over 100 creative types to achieve their passionate careers.

No daily emails. No private blog posts. No rushing-to-play-catch-up-because-I didn’t-log-in-for-a-week. Instead, you’ll get the same community-based, um, community (and fearless leader!) you’re used to in an e-course, but when you’re ready for an exercise based on your needs/goals/challenges, it’s there for you to download and work through instantaneously. There’s also dozens of topics that the exercises here apply to, so whether you’re looking to figure out what you wanna be when you grow up or you wanna build your business – or anything in between – there’s an exercise for that (and if there’s not, let me know & I’ll make one!).

The Clubhouse was something I totally didn’t think I needed but signed up because, you know, Michelle Ward is amazeballs. I wasn’t sure what the Clubhouse could give me other than yet another place to hangout online.

I can tell you now that the Clubhouse has become one of my “must visit” places that I check everyday! So many amazingly inspirational and creative people as well as loads of amazing resources and support! I love the diversity that we have here from newbie entrepreneurs and people who are just trying to figure it all out, as well as people who have achieved some awesome stuff and are here to help other people achieve their awesome stuff!

I can almost promise you that you will find the Clubhouse a welcoming and supportive environment no matter what you are looking to create!”

Working for yourself as a solopreneur means you get to call all the shots, make all the decisions and brainstorm with a pen and a notebook. Which is AWESOME until, well, you need help. And then, what do you do? Your husband might not be honest (he knows better) and your best friend might not, gasp, care all that much whether the header of your website is in blue or in magenta. Enter the Clubhouse!

These amazing and brilliant creatives do everything for each other from feedback on sites to business advice to encouragement when times are tough to a huge WOOHOO when times are great! I seriously don’t know what I’d do without having the wisdom, friendship and business-savvy I get from the Clubhouse in my back pocket.”

The Clubhouse has made such a huge difference to me in my work and the creation of my business. I’m really new to business, and Michelle’s exercises just have a way of helping my crazy brain make sense to me. She has helped me to clarify what I have to offer and how I want to offer it, and since I joined the Clubhouse, I’ve been so much more motivated and productive. I know I’ve accomplished more in the last few months than I would have otherwise, including releasing an e-book and writing an ecourse. I love the support and encouragement–Michelle is super present in all of the discussions, and the other Clubhouse members are amazingly helpful and supportive.”
